So, whilst I was going through templates and the like of squarespace to choose some designs for my place of work (Boffos is going online bitches! Woot woot!) I realized something. Firstly, there was an upgrade to squarespace 6 (oopsie la!) there was also talk of a squarespace app for my friggin iPhone. Say Whaaaaat!? I can post on the go!?

So I'm givin it a try. While watching Family Guy. On the couch. Ya that's right.
So firstly, yes, new gear. As in, 1st gear. As opposed to No Gear. Yessieree Bob, I have a lot of plans to get moving on my adventures! But I fear letting all these plans out here so there will be no looking upon with disappointment. Then again, maybe letting them all out will motivate me to actually get 'er done? Now there's an idea!

I am confused though, about one small thing. See, Squarespace sets aside comments that it suspects is spam so that I can review it and agree or not agree. Mostly, I agree. But I just read one that was "Really good blog! All peoples need writing skils like yours" .... was that sarcastic?!

Anyhoo, before I rush off into the night of bingo ink all up and down my arm because I have issues not messing myself with the dabber, I haz a show!

Had a fabu time, lots of laughs, tons of stories, most of which are probably inappropriate to put on a blog :)

I didn't make as much as I had hoped, but I guess doing a craft show on a "Black Friday" weekend where all the stores were having amazing deals may have put a bit of a damper on the amount of people showing up. Met amazing people though, so that's always a huge plus. I did make back the table fees, gas money, lunch money and have some monies in my pocket, but I did hope to do much more.

So, what's a girl to do? List on Etsy! I've been listing like a mad mad fiend. I hope to atleast make some good sales before Christmas so I can actually purchase a few things to give as presents. I don't think my friends and fam would appreciate me just giving them crafts I've made but didn't sell hee hee. Well, some of them would be okay with it - but I'd feel like a douche.

I'm currently running a FREE SHIPPING sale in my shop. All you gotta do is use the coupon code FREESHIP upon checkout! You know you want to... free shipping, c'mon now! Sometimes that's the most expensive part of buying online!!

Will I lose money for shipping free? Of course. But a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. Running out of time for saving money for a downpayment! And 80% of what I'm making at my job right now goes towards groceries and gas. Now if I could just stop eating and driving I'd be laughing! hee hee (well, I probably wouldn't be laughing. I'd be pretty emaciated.)

Wanna know what I'm listing?

For example...

I'm soon going to be listing my Canadian Animals series of cards, so keep an eye out! Alright, that's enough plugging my own work for now...

I'm slowly starting to change my shop name! I have my Facebook fan page changed (well the URL and banner, but it still says I'm "SassmowthDesigns on Etsy". Don't know if I can change that!) and as you can see, my banner up top there. And my Twitter has also changed to @LoveUPorkChops. Lots more changes to come when I figure out how to change my URL on this blog. Anyone know how to do that? I'm a little slow. (As my Dad says, I'm "Sloooovenian" ha ha. He's a comedian)

Alright must get back to listing. I also have to put a little Paypal thingy on here so I can have people purchase directly from my website as opposed to having to go through Etsy. All in due time I suppose. (Again, anyone have advice on that one?!)

Woot Woot!

This'll be a super quick post as it's quite late, I've been up a long time, I got little sleep last night, I drove a lot today, I ate too much of the best pizza ever, and got a late start on crafting.

So, what have I done?

Greeting card sets!

And pendants!

But still so much to do! I don't want to think about it really. I just hope I really crack the whip on my ass tomorrow and craft for most of the day. I do have to make a few quick jaunts around town, so hopefully they don't take too long.

Have a great night kids!

Craft shows comin' up!

So, I don't think I officially announced this, I just kinda put it at the sidebar :) But I got accepted for 2 shows! The first one is in Brampton on November 23rd, and the second is called The G33K show and it's for November 24th and 25th. So I'm freaking out a wee bit. 3 days of craft shows. And I haven't "crafted" in close to a year. Poop.

I've made a few runs to the craft stores for supplies and I hope to Gumby-Christ that I can get enough crafts done in 2 weeks. Running out of time. Yikes!

Gotta get me arse in gear.

But of course, as procrastination is my middle name, I've been fooling with things like shop names and marketing strategies.

All this is being helped along by a book I purchased this summer called "The Handmade Marketplace" and lemme tell ya it's fabu! So much incredible information and a lot of them are fellow etsians and craft show gurus. It's taking me a while to get through it all, but I like what I've done so far.

My blog look has changed if you've noticed :) And yes, I've had some great feedback about the "Love you like porkchops" so I think it's gonna stick. Now I just have to craft away at all the things I'm going to be selling, fill up the blog and websites and etsy with new product and I should be good to go, right?

Oy, motivation, please be kind and find me often.

I know it'll be a lot of work switching my shop name on everything, but I think it'll be worth it in the end. I've been thinking about having my photography separate (KLantZ Photography) but keep it on this website/blog as a new tab. I still want to do my photography per se, but since I have a cute/creepy/gothic style of illustrations and some photography fits it, I don't think that will go well with the 'Love you like porkchops' style that I'd like to portray. It'll all come together eventually. I hope. Crossing fingers and toes!

Alright, bed time again before I'm on here all night giving you all too much information like how my dog pood 6 times today. **6 TIMES**. wtf. Literally full of sh*t I suppose.

I've quickly changed my banner. And while I was at it, changed the whole look of my blog lol. I didn't feel like the black/grey with hints of pink showed anything "fun" about porkchops. Er, I mean, my crafts.

I'm still fiddling, and so far, whenever anyone else looks at my blog, the banner isn't there. I just did some readjustments with the pixel sizes in hopes that would work. We'll see I suppose.

As for new crafts I haven't gotten to it yet, but I'm still so unorganized with my craft room it's hard to create. And I don't think hubs appreciates everything being done in the diningroom (which is currently where my computer still is). My excuse is because my craft room doesn't have a light. There's nothing. Nada. Okay, there's a lamp from the 70's. But that doesn't illuminate the room enough for me to be able to see properly. But in order to get a light in there, it has to be organized. Oy. So many things to do.

Okay so the dog is whining because I've locked him out of the diningroom. I've done that because the cat DESPERATELY NEEDS to be in here, and then he just knocks things over, crawls all over things, and finds anything that can crinkle and crinkle it. So I'm afraid I must bid you all adieu.

(Probably close to a year but who's counting). As you can see from my banner, there's a KLantZ Photography in there as well. (Pronounced Clancy cause it's funny like that) When I got more into the photography, I thought maybe I should go towards that one instead of Sassmowth.

As we all know, the problems with Sassmowth is that little 'W' in there. I did that for specific reasons, but who purposely spells the name wrong if they're not 100% familiar with my business? Since my email is a 'sassmowth' as well, there've been many an email gone awry.

And why did I chose Sassmowth to begin with? A very long time ago, which seemed another life, a friend and I came up with "Sassmouth - a new dimension in cards" for our greeting cards we were working on. They were very sassy my friends. For example [guy sitting on the floor in a newly un-furnished room] "So I hear you're going through a divorce and you're about to lose all of your most prized possessions. But look at the bright side..." [inside] She's one of them!

It was hilarious to me at the time. Maybe I'm just sick of looking at it now, so that it's not so humourous?! Who knows... but believe me, some of them were freakin' laugh-tacular!

Anyhoodles, that friend and I parted ways. And I had created a whole whack of new cards (like the one shown in the last post). But I was also crocheting, and I wasn't sure what I wanted my shop name to be on Etsy. So I hmm'd and haw'd and thought, screw it. I've already been using 'sassmowth' as my email addy for a long time now, and atleast Sassmowth doesn't box me into one craft, so I'm gonna go for it!

Now I'm not so sure. It's too hard to brand. Not all my work is "sassy" although some still is. KLantZ photography, that's an idea, but again, boxing me into photography. If I just did KLantZ, would I still be haunted with the spelling? And would everyone pronounce it Clancy like I've envisioned? Should I just use Clancy? But how would I brand that? With the cop from the Simpsons? ("Shut up Lou, I love this song! JAMMING!")

I've just been reading an awesome possum book on starting up your own business and branding is something that is first and foremost. Even though it'll be one hell of a lot of work changing my name on everything, I think it'll be worth it. But now I'm having anxiety over whether I'm making the right choice?

So, here's what I'm thinking.... My work is very... varied. I do photography, illustration and crochet. The photography is architectural to creepy/gothic. The illustration is cute and funky to creepy/gothic. The crochet is just fuckin' adorable! And there's no hope in me finding one craft and sticking with it, y'know? It's not possible for me. Drawing, photography and crochet have all become my passions and I've found a way to use all three in yet more mediums. I've tried picking one, but I canna dooo eet captain!

But what name encompasses it all? What name is catchy? What name would you see at a craft fair and walk over out of pure curiosity? What name would you most likely remember?

Love you like Porkchops

Am I just dilusional? Is it that time of the night that I think all my ideas are fantastic ones? Is it too long? Is it stupid? Am I on to something?

Wanna know the story? My husband said that to me one night. And my response was "But... too many porkchops make you sick!" (because they're breaded using egg, and he's allergic to egg) and he says "Exactly. They make me sick and I eat them anyways. Because that's how much I love them"

To this day I'm not sure if it means he really does truly love me, or he loves me despite the fact that I make him sick.

Anyhoo... that's the end. It's bed time. And guess what? Uncontrollable urge to clean... taking over....

Not sure if this will work...

Considering my website host is currently underwater in Manhattan.

Still trying to process the damage that went on in the States. It's another one of those instances where you're watching the news and it's just so unimaginable that you have a hard time digesting it actually went on.

Luckily in our area, where we were told we'd be in for 90 km/hr winds, up to 50mm of rain and possibly 72 hours of blackouts, none of that happened. Well, I shouldn't say none exactly as some areas close to us are in the dark and had received damage.

We seem to be in a little pocket over here, as on many many occasions a storm cell will split, and to the right of us they get freezing rain, a meter of snow, and whiteouts, and the left of us get freezing rain, a meter of snow, and whiteouts. Yet here we are on our front porch with the dog chewin' on a wooden tooth pic goin "Hey Paw... whats al' at hubub about? Ain't nuttin' butta sprinklin'!!"

Although I have to say, all this rain is wreaking havoc on my knuckles. My driver side windshield wiper could break at any second.

In other news, I actually have some craft shows coming up! November 23rd, I'll be at the lovely Erika's work at a "Beat the Holiday Rush" for their employees. (As a reminder for all you darlings out there, Erika is the one that gives me rainbow kitten Christmas eyebeams - as in, that's how I feel whenever I get a chance to hang out with her. I'm currently having horrendously terrible withdrawal as I haven't seen her in a few weeks now. I'm pretty sure this is why my throat hurts so bad it makes me cry even when I burp)

I may actually have a craft show later that same weekend! But I won't say where just incase I don't get in, since it's juried and my work may not suit their current theme. And if I tell you all and I don't get in, I'll just get all upset like and picture you all tsking at me for my failures.

BUT if I don't get in there, I have an opportunity for that same weekend to be in a craft show at a seniors center in Fort Erie. Don't judge. Those seniors have senses of humour. They could enjoy the occasional chestnut roasting.

I'm also tempted to start using my line of "Strictly Canadian" characters in my crafts. See how they do. This guy makes my husbands brain hurt because he's apparently so cute, he makes people crumble? Not too sure. But dear hubs can't even look at him sometimes. Chickadee do da seems to be kryptonite of some sort. Anyhoodles, time for more tea.

Hope all are safe out there after Sandy kicked herself in everyones eyes.

Geezus! Seriously folks, what's my problem!? I get home from work, look around at the mess and think "eh... I totally don't feel like cleaning" but then it gets dark, people go to bed and I'm all "ooooh let's organize and vacuum!"

I guess I've always hated cleaning. But hey, atleast my messy room as a kid prevented it from getting robbed. True story. Our apartment was broken into and my room was the only thing not touched. I had a keyboard (hey now, that was some pretty awesome stealin' goods in the early 90's), a light up phone (again, stealin' goods) gold jewellery sitting on my dresser (buried under things) and lots of little odds and sods that woulda done great on the "hey I stole this and now I'm selling it" market. Those robbers took one look in my room and turned right around.

So basically, I have to be in the mood to clean. If I'm not in the mood and I try to clean, things get broken. Or more messy. Like the time I had to clean up my "art station" (which was a wire 3 shelved unit I kept all my art supplies on) and I couldn't find my eraser, so I figured I'd clean and organize the shelves. Ya. Roommate came home to art supplies ALL over the apartment (and not like I had taken stuff off the shelf and placed it down nicely. No, no. More like, THROWN around the room) and NOTHING on the wire shelf. Low and behold, my eraser was inbetween the couch cushions.

As a teenager I'd do the usual stay up late and sleep past noon program and it was always about 2 in the morning I'd get this uncontrollable urge to clean my room. My parents put up with it because it was a rarity, as long as I didn't start up the vacuum. Unfortunately when you're trying to silently clean, it all of a sudden becomes the loudest thing to ever happen in your entire life. And you also forget everything. Like needing the windex and paper towels. I'd spend 10 minutes quietly (unsuccessfully) sneaking (ya right, like I'm capable of that) down the stairs (and more often than not, falling down the stairs) to go get the windex, take 10 minutes to come back up and realize I didn't grab the paper towels. Then after getting the paper towels, I'd realize that I can't use windex on the custom made (by my awesome sauce carpenter Daddoo) wooden desk unit, I'd be back down to get the pledge. Which of course would make me woozy using it, and shorty after, I'd be sitting in the middle of my room giggling like a school girl at a piece of paper I'd found with a drawing of a penis on it.

So once you've heard all of this, can you actually believe at one point I worked for a cleaning company!? It was hell I tells you, HELL!

But in my defence, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. They were hiring, I needed a job. Ce La Vie.

I just wish my inner scheduling matched my outer scheduling. I'm most creative and motivated between the hours of 10pm and 10am. After that, f*ck it.

And here I sit writing a blog and letting you know of all my crazy habits. Have you noticed that 90% of my blog posts are posted really late at night? Ya. And the ones that aren't posted late at night aren't crazy and full up of too much information? Hmm... I should maybe really try to post at normal hours.

Anyhoodle, I have work to do. It is almost 11pm afterall. I should be getting ready to go to bed but there's some dust bunnies that need attending, and some crafts to be created. But before I go, I can't possible leave you all pictureless.

When we stayed in Bled, Slovenia at the end of July, this was what I was looking at from my hotel room. Ya, didn't want to leave! One day I'll go back there and go up to that castle dammit! :)

Goodnight everyone! Have a great weekend!

Facebook conundrum

Does conundrum make sense? Sometimes I use misuse words. Like, really badly. Like, not even close to what the real meaning is. Which sometimes confuses me because how in the world can I know what bombastic means, but not horrendous?!

Anyhoodle, the issue I'm having with facebook. I know alot of you have issues with facebook, and really, I have it for my business (which has pretty much been dead since December) and to keep in touch with friends and fam that live far away. And hell, to keep in touch with friends that live close by, but since our schedules dont match whatsoever, I never get to see them. Sad face.

The issue is viewing facebook on my iPhone... well, on the computer too, but atleast on the computer I can block all the posts about this blingy game and that super game and all those freakin' games I refuse to play that annoy me. But for some reason, I can't block the f*cking song pop crap. So basically, my ENTIRE news feed is "this person guessed this song on songpop!" and they guessed freakin' 20 songs in a row, and it shows that message for EVERY ONE. THEN to slap me in the face a little more, it does a "this person guessed 20 songs on songpop!" And I always cry a little when I see yet another friend started guessing songs on songpop. I want to cry right now with how many times I've even written song pop.

To make matters worse, Facebook has filled up with "if you remember this person, click like and share!" "if you know what this contraption is from the 60's, click like and share!" So then you have those people that actually click like and share on EVERY ONE. Methinks I need to stop checking facebook.

In other news, I'm a complete idiot! See, a post ago, a few posts ago, I don't recall, I said I haven't been crafting and had nothing to share. Geezus, seriously?! That's all I did in June for my sister in laws wedding!

I made these "stained glass" type silhouette thingys to decorate the walls of the reception hall.

They're gigantic. (well, before I knew what horrendous meant, I'd be saying they were horrendous btw) And also to take note, these aren't pics of the completed project. I still had to attach the black outline to the white backing and cut the white backing to size.

I did 8 of them and they really brought the room together, so I was super excited about that. And I just realized I probably should have cropped them first before I put them online. I am trying to be a professional photographer here after all and I'm posting crap pictures lol. Whoopsie! Or as I learned in Slovenia, Ooop-see-la! Oh damn, I should probably write about my trip to Vienna and Slovenia! I didn't even mention I was going! HA!

Anyhoo, I think that's all I have for today. I know there's more, but I think I'm too annoyed by facebook to write anything else. Plus I'm currently cooking dinner and don't want that chicken to burn :)

I'll hopefully be back soon! I'm on a mission to get my shop and crafting business up and running this week! Wish me luck!

Oh, and in other news, my hands smell like onions. Have a super night!
